Dating Tips – Conversation is Where It All Begins

Dating Tips – Conversation is Where It All Begins

When you are on a date, you are spending time with another person and, hopefully, taking your relationship with him or her a step ahead in terms of your mental, emotional and physical interaction.  The only way for two people to get started in getting to know each other and taking their relationship to a higher level is through conversation.  Getting a conversation started and keeping it going can be tough, especially on the first date when both people are just starting to know each other and to help you overcome this obstacle here are a  few dating conversation tips.

There is nothing like a laugh to break the ice and saying something to make your date smile or even laugh is a great way to relax the atmosphere.  When two people can recall funny times from the past and share private jokes, they are on their way to developing a serious relationship with a strong foundation.  Although it is nice for couples to have a lot in common, having no differences will make the relationship boring – it will be like talking to yourself.  Take an interest in aspects of your date’s life that does not directly concern you and ask questions to develop a deeper understanding – this is a great way to add value to a relationship and also to develop a better and deeper understanding and appreciation of the connection that the two of you share.

It is also important to build up on what the two of you have in common – learn to not just talk about things that interest you but to analyze them for a deeper understanding and appreciation of what these things mean to each of you, both as individuals and as a couple.  You will find yourself growing as a human being and the new perspective you get from your talks with your date will add value to your feeling towards him or her.  Any list of dating tips on conversations will be incomplete if mention is not made of the importance of listening – not just listening with attention to what is being said but asking questions to demonstrate your interest and show that you are interested in your date as a person and not just a one night stand.

Even if you have a lot to say, control yourself and do not try and dominate the conversation – let your date have an opportunity to express him or herself – dating involves 2 people and they both have equal rights.  Do not be afraid of having arguments as long as you are both clear that you are expressing your thoughts as equals and that disagreeing with your date does not mean any lack of respect for him or her.
